BIO
How can a computer write a novel? What would be the implications and applications across different industries, if generating a novel was viable?
Hi, my name is Louis Castricato! I was previously Mathematics major at uWaterloo. I am now a Masters student at Georgia Tech, advised by Professor Mark Riedl. Soon to be a PhD student at a university near you!
My primary interests are into generative computational narratology. I aim to take tweets about natural disasters in real-time and generate evacuation plans from them. An interactive narrative at a previously unprecedented scale.
One day I'll make an AI that writes a full length (good) novel.
MY CURRENT PROJECTS

OPEN DOMAIN EVENT EXTRACTION
Using NLI and Common Sense Reasoning methods to perform open domain event extraction in short stories.

PLOT HOLE DETECTION
Performing Monte Carlo integration over narratives to produce an incoherency score. Books with higher incoherency scores are more likely to have plot holes.
SELECT PRIOR PROJECTS

WIREZAPP
Aimed to combine symbolic reasoning with deep learning, in order to create a narrator for an experimental roleplaying video game. Lead a Think-Tank startup for four years.

SYMMETRIC PREDICTIVE ESTIMATOR
Rewrote a neuro-computational backend for Professor Orchard. Heavily contributed to various research projects. Ended up winning ICONIPS 2017 Best Paper out of 500+ other (accepted) papers.

TOPOLOGY AGNOSTIC SUMMARIZATION (GSUM)
Worked under Dr. Enrico Santus (Post Doc @ CSAIL) for eight months on a summarization model that is agnostic to the document topology.
